William R. "Bill" Slater, 77, of Eaton Township passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023 unexpectedly at home. He is preceded in death by his wife in 2008, Beverly Slater.

Born on June 2, 1946 in Scranton, he is the son of the late Kenneth and Jean (Davies) Slater.

Bill graduated from West Scranton High School in 1964. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served in the 3rd Armored Division from 1964 to 1967.

Bill began working at PPL in 1968. For an impressive duration spanning over three decades until his retirement in 2004, he devoted himself to his work with passion and diligence.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bill's proudest accomplishments revolved around his family. He was a loving father to three sons and shared countless cherished memories with them. Together, they obtained their motorcycle licenses-a testament to their tight-knit bond and love for adventure. Additionally, Bill generously passed on his passion for music by teaching all three of his sons how to play the guitar.

Never one to be limited by just one passion, Bill had an array of hobbies that he enjoyed throughout his life. As a doting grandfather, spending time with his grandchildren was always a top priority for him. The joy he found in their laughter and the love exchanged between them brought immeasurable happiness into his life.

During Christmas gatherings, those lucky enough to attend were treated to delectable delights handcrafted by Bill himself. Whether it was meticulously preparing buckeye balls or creating a mouthwatering seafood bisque, he showcased his culinary talents and shared his delicious creations with loved ones.

In his spare time, Bill found joy in the world of woodworking and painting. As the owner of the Artistic Tiger Giftshop, his painted wine glasses became sought-after treasures within the community. He also enjoyed traveling to Maine.

He is survived by sons, Robert Slater and wife Heather, Scott Slater and girlfriend Nicole Puhalla, Kevin Slater and wife Ruthanna; companion, Sharon Penn; brother, James Slater and wife Diane Slater; grandchildren, Kayla, Jace, Cody, Evan, Abby, Andy Slater,

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday September 28, 2023 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
