William Evans

William Lee Evans, 65, of Tunkhannock passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at home, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cathy (Coolbaugh) Evans.

Born on January 6, 1959 in Scranton, he is the son of the late Leroy and Marie (Smith) Evans.

Bill graduated from Tunkhannock Area High School in 1978. His professional career began at Carpenter Care Center, where he worked diligently from 1979 until 2002 as the Environmental Services Director. He later transitioned to Conti Federal Services, taking on the role of foreman. Bill's career continued with his work at Rist Construction during the windmill project, and most recently, he served as a technician for JJ Industries until 2022.

His interests reflected a deep appreciation for the outdoors; he found joy in hunting and fishing with his brothers, daughters, and grandkids. Bill was an avid gardener, a NASCAR enthusiast, and had a fondness for Western films. A hands-on individual, he was a skilled carpenter and took great pleasure in building and repairing things. There wasn't anything Bill couldn't fix. Bill loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Christy VanArtsdalen and husband Matthew, Ashley Dymond and husband Daniel; grandchildren, Padyn Evans, Kylie Sleboda, Avery Dymond and Ella Dymond; brothers, Charles Evans (Nina), Jerry Evans (Ericka); sisters, Rose Barr (Roy), Caroline Keeler (Dale), Kathleen Fletcher, Laurie Zavrotny (David), Sally Lukasewicz (Timothy), Mary Jameson (Ron); sister-in-law, Debra Evans; many nieces and nephews; his beloved dog, Pixie.

He is preceded in death by brother, Joseph Evans.

Family and friends are invited to attend Bill's funeral service which will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657. Interment will follow in Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock.

A viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday.
