Victor W. Schaefer, 93, of Tunkhannock, died Wednesday at Tyler Memorial Hospital, Tunkhannock. His wife of 65 years is Anne Chaplauske Schaefer,
Born July 29, 1915, in Orange County, Calif., son of the late Herman and Lillie Bauer Schaefer, he was an Army veteran. He served for five years and saw action in the Pacific theater of operations during World War II. He was a self-employed plumber and contractor until he retired.
Victor was a 50-year member of Temple Lodge 248, Free and Accepted Masons, Tunkhannock, a member of the Tunkhannock Moose Lodge 1276 and the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden.
Also surviving are a daughter, Ruth Tewksbury, Tunkhannock; two granddaughters; a great-grandson; two sisters, Esther Smith, Bradenton, Fla.; and Mildred Way, Aurora, Colo.; a brother, George Schaefer, Bradenton; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son, William J.; two sisters, Ruth Warner and Irene Stechert; and two brothers, Harvey Schaefer and Staff Sgt. Richard Schaefer.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 West Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with Pastor Lori Robinson officiating. Interment, Sunnyside Cemetery.
Friends and family may call Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Triton Hose Company, Tunkhannock Public Library or the Delaware Valley Raptor Center.
