Ulrich Peter Horger III, 68, of Tunkhannock passed away on Tuesday, October 8 at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his wife, Ann (Berlew) Horger.
Born on December 9, 1955 in Bethesda, MD, he is the son of the late Ulrich and Jean (Hauenstein) Horger II.
Pete was a 1973 graduate of Riverside High School and further pursued his education at Keystone College with a degree in Liberal Arts.
Though finished with school, he never stopped learning through his love of reading and his fascination with the natural world.
Larger than life, "Big Pete" was known for his vibrant personality and his genuine benevolence. He expressed his love by cooking lavish meals and hosting proper parties for family and friends, exemplifying the "All Are Welcome" mindset. Along with spending quality time with loved ones, Pete enjoyed fishing, foraging, gardening and taking mountain rides to pass the time. Above all else, his love for life and passion for people never went unnoticed as he danced his way through the years he spent here on Earth. "May the four winds blow you safely home".
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Peter R. Horger; stepdaughter, Jessica George (James Pitts); brothers, John (Linda) Horger, Christopher (Manal) Horger; sisters, Susan (Fred) Fitch and Margaret Horger; grandchildren, Riley, James, Abigail Pitts; several nieces and nephews.
