On February 26th, Stanley Jay Farr, age 70, died at Mercy Hospice, Scranton, PA, after a long illness.
Born May 19, 1939 in Mehoopany, PA he was the son of Stanley S. and Elizabeth Lee Farr. He grew up in Trucksville, PA and was educated at Kingston Township High School. When Stanley joined the Air Force in 1956, he traveled throughout the world with the US Air Force Strategic Missile Command. During the time he was stationed in England, he met and married his wife of 48 years, Jean Murray. After retiring from the Air Force, he was employed by the Wyoming County Corrections Department as a lieutenant.
Stanley loved the outdoors, and even when he could no longer hunt and fish, he dreamed of the days he spent with his family enjoying the activities he loved. At home he enjoyed gardening and playing with his dogs and grandchildren.
Surviving are wife Jean, daughter Amanda and husband Mike Hudak of Mildred, PA; son Bill and wife Dawn of two granddaughters Tori and Allie of Maryland; a brother Larry and wife Barbara of Largo Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Patricia Ann, a brother Richard K, stepmother Ruth Weed, and stepbrother Charles Weed, Sr.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 6th, at 2:00 pm at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc., 73 W. Tioga Street, Tunkhannock. Friends may call at the funeral home on March 6th from 1 pm until the time of the service.
