Salvatore Scaturro of Tunkhannock, formerly of Centre Island, LI, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 19, 2010. Born in Brooklyn, New York on September 10, 1929, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine Ciaccio Scaturro.
Salvatore was a graduate of John Adams High School and an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, he was a patrolman in the Nassau County Police Department in New York for 20 years. Sal's last assignment was with the Police Boys Club, where he was affectionately known by everyone as "Mr. Sal". He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kate Anne (Esernio) Scaturro.
Surviving are his beloved wife Patricia Ann (Lynch) Scaturro, his daughters Catherine Dionian and husband Thomas of Huntington, LI, Julie Scaturro of Commack, LI, and Debra Barbara and husband Robert of Alpharetta, GA, grandchildren Thomas Dionian Jr. and wife Lynne and Gene and Cara Barbara. He is also survived by 2 great grandchildren, brother Louis of Worcester, MA and sister Josephine Ganci of Tampa FL, step daughters Kathleen Grazianno and husband Thomas of Oakton, Va, Maureen Whipple and husband Robert of Tunkhannock, Jeanne Lynch of E. Amherst, NY, Dianne Pautler and husband Mike of Williamsville, NY and 6 step grandchildren.
A mass was held at the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock . Interment was in Prospect Cemetery, Stroudsburg. Arrangements by Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga Street, Tunkhannock.
