Sally LaBarre

Sally Sue LaBarre, 78, of Tunkhannock passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Richard LaBarre in 2023.

Born on October 21, 1945 in Tunkhannock, she is the daughter of the late Harold and Eithel (Wickizer) Howell.

After graduating from Tunkhannock High School in 1964, she embarked on a career that led her to work alongside Dr. Gennett in Vestal, NY until her retirement in 2008. Following her retirement, Sally returned to Tunkhannock.

Those who knew Sally will remember her for her infectious sense of humor and her love for music. She found joy in visiting the Airport Pickers Barn to listen to live music on Sundays.

She enjoyed playing bingo, attending gas engine shows, and cuddling with her beloved dog, Penny. She also had a love for Hallmark Christmas movies.

Sally and her husband fostered many children over the years, providing love and support to those in need. She was also a devoted member of the Eatonville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by sister, Nancy Watson; brother-in-law, Ray Warner; sister-in-law, Marley Warner; aunt, Alice Bishop; godchild, Jessica Dougherty; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by brothers, Harold Howell, Jr. and Kenneth Howell; sister, Phyllis Goble.

Family and friends are invited to attend Sally's memorial service which will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 4:00 PM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73. W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Rev. Tanya Olaviany presiding.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until the time of service on Friday.
