Ruth A. Hug of Lake Winola died Saturday in Abington Manor, Clarks Summit. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert R. Hug on September 20, 2008.
Born in Mill City on April 26, 1937 daughter of the late Rayburn and Anna Stage ODell. She graduated Falls Overfield High School and worked as a beautician for 10 years and was a school bus driver in the Tunkhannock Area School district for 8 years. She served as a dispatcher for the Pennsylvania State Police in Wyoming County for over 14 years. She was a charter member of the Lake Winola Lioness, a member of Lake Winola Fire Co and ladies Auxiliary were she had served as president. She served as committee women for the Wyoming County Democrat Committee.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Rayburn, Robert, Kenneth and Charles and Townsend ODell and Edward Huffsmith. Surviving is a daughter Pamela and husband Al Fagerlin, son Robert Sr. and wife Elaine Hug and grandson Robert Jr., son Townsend Tony and wife Shawnna Hug, all of Lake Winola and granddaughters Ariel Nichole Hug of Eaton, Co. and Katelyn Hug Lake Winola and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 am from the Lake Winola United Methodist Church with Pastor Gay Irwin and Deacon Ray Pieretti. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery Lake Winola. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.
