Rose T. Kumet of Tunkhannock died Friday in Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock. She was born in Old Forge on January 25, 1924 daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline Vishnesky.
Prior to her retirement she worked at the Rowker Dress Factory in Tunkhannock for several years. She was member of the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock its Resurrection Choir and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Rose spent numerous hours helping her church making their famous pierogis for Easter, Christmas and the Wyoming County Fair.
Rose was active with the Triton Hose Co in Tunkhannock she spent many hours helping out in the Fried Dough tent at their annual carnival and was famous for her generous portions of fruit on the Fruit Flops.
She loved gardening and working in the yard. She also loved to crochet everything from doilies to afghans
Rose was preceded in death by her husband Veto G. Kumet,
sister Sophie Motichka, brothers John and Leonard Vishnesky. Surviving is a daughter Ruth Kumet of Tunkhannock, numerous nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian will be held on Tuesday December 20, 2016 at 11AM from the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock. Friends and family may call the church from 10 – 11AM on Tuesday. Interment will be in Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Church of Nativity BVM or to Triton Hose Co. in Tunkhannock.
