Robert “Bob” Stanley Thomas 78, of Tunkhannock died peacefully Saturday, January 7th at St. Mary’s Villa in Elmhurst, PA.
He was born in Lake Winola on May 6, 1938 son of the late Stanley E. and Frances Stetz Thomas.
Bob was a 1956 graduate of the Tunkhannock Area High School, and a veteran of the United States Navy. Following his service in the Navy, he worked at the family business, Thomas Well Drilling, eventually succeeding his Father as owner/operator of the business.
He was a member of the Church of Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock, the Tunkhannock Moose Lodge 1276, and the PA and National Ground Water Associations.
Bob enjoyed the outdoors and took great pleasure in a lifetime of hunting and gardening. He was mechanically inclined and regularly applied these skills to work situations and automotive repairs. He was capable of tackling all aspects of any household remodeling project and frequently did for both himself and family members.
Bob was preceded in death by his sister Geraldine Lasher.
He is survived by his sons Michael and wife Robyn, of Parkton, Maryland, Rob and wife Marie, of Dalton; sisters Arlene Jenkins, of Piedmont, Ohio, and Judy Love, of New Port Richey, Florida; 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 14th at 10:00 AM from the Church of Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock, interment will be in Pieta Cemetery Tunkhannock. A viewing for friends and family will be held on Friday, January 13th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 West Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA.
