Philip J. Powell Sr.
Philip J. Powell 84 of Tunkhannock passed away May 14th at Tyler Memorial Hospital. Born in on July 30, 1930 in Wilkes-Barre he was the son of the late Joseph and Mamie Leco Powell.
Prior to retirement, Philip was employed at Procter & Gamble for 32 years. He was a 1952 graduate of Myers High School, an army veteran, and a member of the Mill City Assembly of God Church. Philip loved gardening, being outside and eating out. Most of all he loved his family and grandchildren.
Philip is survived by his wife of 58 years, Saundra Andrews Powell; two sons, Philip and wife Cathy Powell, Jr of Hershey; Thomas Powell of Lake Winola; three daughters Tabitha and husband Troy El of Tunkhannock, Amy and husband Michael Nemeth of Iva, SC, and Cathy Gardner of Pittston; fourteen grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Monday May 18th from the Mill City Assembly of God Church, 167 Mercy Lane, Dalton with the Rev. James G. Rugg presiding. Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Philips name to the Mill City Assembly of God Church, Box 360, Dalton, PA 18414.
