Mildred A, Strumski , 69, of Winola View Apartments, Lake Winola died Tuesday at the Community Medical Center, Scranton, after complications following heart surgery.
She was born in Dunmore on April 16, 1939 daughter of the late Frank J. and Josephine Stanavitch Galonis. She was a 1957 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She was a member of St. Maryâs of the Lake Church, Lake Winola, St. Maryâs Altar and Rosary Society, Mill City Sportsmenâs Club and the Winola View Apartment Tenantsâ Association. In the past she was active in the Wyoming County Federation of Sportsmen, Northeast Pa. Acid Rain Coalition, Lake Winola Cottagers Association, Falls 4-H Club and the Lake Winola Fire Companyâs Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a devoted and selfless mother and neighbor and friend to all in need. Her generosity knew no limits. She spent her active years as an avid hunter and angler, making numerous sporting outings to Canada, New York State, the Poconos and the Endless Mountains. She spent her married years with her husband William and their daughter, Sandra, on a scenic five â acre hillside in Wyoming County along Buttermilk Creek.
She was preceded in death by her husband William F. Strumski Jr., surviving is a daughter and son in law Sandra M. Strumski, De Pew and Michael W. De Pew of Madison Township, an Aunt, Mrs. Peter (Helen) Stavisky, East Stroudsburg, Pa., nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9 am from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock with Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maryâs of the Lake, Lake Winola at 10 am. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
