Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Bluhm, 57, of Tunkhannock, died Monday, March 1 at Tyler Memorial Hospital after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Gary Allen Bluhm, She and her husband celebrated their 40th anniversary on August 27, 2009.
Born December 11, 1952 in Meshoppen, she was the daughter of Frank A. and the late Agnes Stroka Ambrutis who passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2010. She was a member of the church of Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock and a 1970 graduate of Tunkhannock High School. She attended Keystone Junior College where she studied banking. Beth made many friends during her 30 year career with Peoples National Bank retiring as Assistant Manager. She was very interested in her community, serving on the Borough Council and the Tunkhannock Water and Sewer Authority. She was an active member of the Wyoming County Diabetic Association. Her sports interests included football, as an avid Cowboys fan, and high school wrestling, where she enjoyed supporting her son , Michael. Among her passions, were music and tap dancing, with the David Blight School. In her early years. She loved politics and social issues but her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren learn and grow. She enjoyed spending time with them and her beloved dogs, Ladybug and Peanut.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Ambrutis, Jr , 2006 and Mark Patrick Ambrutis, 1980
Surviving besides her husband are a son, Michael and his wife, Heather; a daughter, Kellie Bluhm; a brother, John Ambrutis; granddaughter, Justine Bluhm; grandsons, Mark Ambrose, Michael Bluhm, Maxwell Bluhm and Hayden Bluhm; aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6 at 10:00 AM from the Church of Nativity BVM Tioga St. Tunkhannock. Friends are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be held in Sunnyside Cemetery Tunkhannock.
Friends and family may call on Friday afternoon and evening from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc. 73 West Tioga St. Tunkhannock.
