Marie Kanyok

Marie J. Kanyok, 53, of Tunkhannock passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Darron Kanyok.

Born on September 27, 1971 in Luzerne, she is the daughter of Shirley (Zalenski) Krzysik and the late John Krzysik.

Marie was a graduate of Hanover High School. She dedicated over 20 years to serving as an x-ray technician at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, where her expertise and compassion touched the lives of many patients. In addition, she spent 5 years at Tunkhannock Middle School, where she brought joy to students through her role in the cafeteria.

She was deeply committed to her family, and nothing brought her more joy than spending quality time with them. She took immense pride in her two sons, always celebrating their achievements and supporting them in all their endeavors.

She found happiness in outdoor activities, whether it was tending to her beautiful peonies or cutting her grass. The beach was another of her happy places; she relished the relaxing moments spent by the water and enjoyed fishing.

Marie thoroughly enjoyed craftsmanship and woodworking often making small decorations or vanishments for around the house. She also appreciated all kinds of music, she especially enjoyed 70's classic rock, her favorite band being the Doobie Brothers. Marie was also an active member of the Russell Hill United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Darron Kanyok, Jr. and Collin Kanyok; brothers, John, Joe, Jim Krzysik; uncle, Walter Zalenski.

Family and friends are invited to attend Marie's funeral services which will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 4:00 PM from the Sheldon Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Rev. Ronald Folk presiding. Interment will be held in Prevost Cemetery, Tunkhannock.

A viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until the time of service on Saturday.
