Lucy Hamilton Monninger died on January 17, 2021 in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania.
Born in Maryland on November 18, 1937, Lucy was the daughter of the late Clarence and Hazel Eckman Hamilton. She grew up in Harford County, Maryland and was a nursing home administrator in the Baltimore area for 28 years, retiring in July 1998 to join her husband at Lake Winola, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Monninger and her two brothers, Gilbert, and Evans Hamilton.
Lucy is survived by her loving son, Robert A. Monninger and her beloved grandson, George Daniel Monninger of Lake Winola, sister Ann Hamilton Monninger and brother-in-law James of Maryland, sister Frances Hamilton Carter of Nottingham, PA, and sister-in-law Cecelia Hamilton of Maryland. In addition, Lucy was the loving aunt of 4 nieces and 5 nephews along with 8 great nieces and 4 great nephews.
Lucy was a faithful member of Lake Winola United Methodist Church and an active participant in many church activities including quilting and coordinating church luncheons. She was an avid Baltimore sports fan, known to host a Maryland steamed crab feast at a moment’s notice.
She loved to play cards (Pinochle was her game!), read and visit with her friends and family, often on her dock overlooking the lake. She loved all the dogs around the lake and kept treats on hand to feed them whenever they stopped by for a visit (which was often). She gave with all she had, Lucy Hamilton Monninger was the epitome of unconditional love, she will be dearly missed by all her family and friends, near and far, her kindness, generosity and spirit will be remembered in our hearts forever.
Graveside services will be private at Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola, PA. A Celebration of Life will be held at Lake Winola United Methodist Church (date to be announced).
