Lucille Harvey, of Whippoorwill Hollow Road, Tunkhannock, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, in Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock. She was born in Beaumont, on November 21, 1919, a daughter of the late Daniel B. and Alice Kunkle Meeker.
Lucille was the mother of 13 children and enjoyed working on the farm. She was known for her baking and cooking and received a blue ribbon at the county fair for her bread and biscuits. She enjoyed needle crafts, making several handmade gifts for family and friends. She was a collector of salt and pepper shakers, spoons, and post cards.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Stirel Harvey Sr.; a daughter, Jule Harvey; daughter-in-law, Nannette Vigansky Harvey; granddaughter, Suzanne Harvey; and brothers, Daniel William and Paul Meeker.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Monroe and Kay Harvey of Lander, Wyo.; Norman Harvey, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Stirel "Butch" and Lisa Harvey of Laceyville; sons, Mark, Paul and Jonathan Harvey, all of Tunkhannock; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Larry Thomson of Calabash, N.C.; Millie and John Snyder of Lima, Ohio; Inez and Steve Knutson of White Bear Lake, Minn.; Alice and John Davenport of Hunlock Creek; and Virginia and Craig Welna of Bloomington, Minn.; a daughter, Esther Harvey of Minneapolis, Minn.; a sister, Ramona Wall of Noxen; 27 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 74 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with Pr. Gary Myers officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
