Josephine âJoâ Kane Griffin 95 of Tunkhannock formerly of Towanda died Sunday at Annâs Grove Personal Care Home in Tunkhannock after an illness surrounded by her loving Family. She was the widow of William E. Griffin, Sr. who predeceased in death in June of 1999.
She was born in South Waverly on June 29, 1912 daughter of the late John and Ellen Foley Kane. Prior to her marriage she was employed as a secretary to the Principle of Waverly High School in Bradford County. When she and her husband moved into the Towanda Area in 1951 she was frequently asked to work for Bradford County Bureau of Elections at election time. She was extremely loyal to her children following their sports and academic endeavors while they attended St. Agnes High School on Towanda. Jo maintained a wide network of friends in Towanda and later in Tunkhannock.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Patricia, who died shortly after birth in 1953, brother John Kane and sister Genevieve Kane DeMartini. Surviving are sons William E. Jr., Tunkhannock, Dr Michael J. and his wife Laura of State College, Timothy J. and his wife Patricia of Tunkhannock, daughters and son in laws Joellen and David Kule, of Laporte, Colette and Anthony Romano of Cheektowaga, NY, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday May 28th at 9 am at the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock. Interment will be in Pieta Cemetery Tunkhannock. Friends may call at the church from 8:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Nativity BVM, 99 East Tioga St., Tunkhannock, Pa., 18657 or to Annâs Grove Personal Care Home, 601 Sugar Hollow Road, Tunkhannock, Pa. 18657.
