Joseph F. Karpov Sr. of Tunkhannock, died Wednesday July 9th at Geisinger Hospital in Danville. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Claire Fielder Karpov.
He was born in Dushore in December 1933 son of the late Paul and Elizabeth Lech Karpovich. He worked as a Technician for Procter & Gamble for 27 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the National Guard and was active with the Wyoming County Food Pantry, FEMA Wyoming County, the Lackawanna County Audubon Society, the Endless Mountains Nature Center, Greenpeace, and the Bonsai Society of NEPA. He raised numerous varieties of dogs and birds and enjoyed showing them at shows.
He is survived by sons Joseph Jr. of Yardley and Mark of Montrose; 3 grandchildren, Alex and Max Karpov of Yardley and Kira Ann of Montrose. Brother William Karpovich of Newark Del; Sisters Betty Voyton of Wilmington Del. and Mary Potuck of Dushore; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Tony and Francis Karpovich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 12th at 10 am at The Church of the Nativity BVM Tunkhannock. Friends may call on Friday, July 11th from 6 to 8 pm at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc., 73 West Tioga, Tunkhannock, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wyoming County Food Pantry, PO Box 165, Tunkhannock, Pa. 18657.
