John Gurdak, 67, of Factoryville passed away Friday, September 27, 2024 at home. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Evelyn (Aguipo) Gurdak.
Born on August 21, 1957 in Luzerne, he is the son of the late John and Lottie (Zipko) Gurdak.
A proud graduate of Tunkhannock High School in 1975, John went on to serve in the United States Army from 1975 to 1978. Following his active duty, he continued his commitment to service by joining the Army Reserves, where he remained until 1980.
From 1983 until his retirement in 2013, John worked as a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer, where his dedication and skill contributed to national security.
He found joy and relaxation in hunting and fishing, often sharing these experiences with family and friends. Additionally, he developed a passion for gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, John Gurdak and wife Melissa; daughter, Katrina Gurdak and wife Noelle Oh; sisters, Dolores Koepke and husband Bill, Sandy Gurdak, Ann Heiser; grandson, Hayden Gurdak; niece, Heidi Koepke; grandnephew, Jayden Ramos.
Family and friends are invited to attend John's Mass of Christian Burial followed with military honors which will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM from Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 99 E. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657 to be celebrated by Rev. Dennis Bajkowski.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Thursday from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
