James William Mullen, 84, of Tunkhannock passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Valerie Mullen in February 2024.
Born on May 19, 1940 in New York, NY, he is the son of the late William and Christina (Kerr) Mullen.
He was a proud graduate of Immaculata High School, class of 1957, where he met the love of his life, Valerie. Jim further pursued his education at Farleigh Dickinson, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree.
Jim dedicated 40 years of his professional life to Bowery Savings Bank.
He loved learning about geography and was passionate about traveling and trains. He found joy in spending time in the countryside and relished the peace of the mountains. James also had a creative side; he enjoyed crafting beautiful quilts and engaging in needle work.
He was also an active member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Jean Mullen, Debbie Janof; son, Christopher Mullen and wife Eileen; brothers, Jerimiah, William, Vincient, David, Michael Mullen; sisters, Mary Murphy, Katherine Sweeder, Theresa O'Neil, Christina Isedyke; grandchildren, Kevin, Kyle, Ryan Janof, Emilie and Meaghan Bailey.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by daughter, Josephine Mullen; brothers, Joseph and John Mullen; sister, Margaret Ramann; mother-in-law, Josephine Witkowski; father-in-law, Joseph Witkowski; sister-in-law, Lottie Pavlovich; brother-in-law, Stephen Witkowski.
Family and friends are invited to attend James' Blessing Service which will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 12:00 PM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657. Interment will follow in Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
A viewing will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in James' memory to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 30 E.D. Preate Drive, Suite 108, Moosic, PA 18507.
