James Layaou

James (Jim) Layaou, 60, of Monroe Township passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Bobbie Jo Layaou.

Born on January 24, 1964 in Wilkes-Barre, he is the son of the late James and Mary Ruth (Knott) Layaou.

Jim graduated from Tunkhannock High School in 1981 where he excelled both academically and athletically on the volleyball court.

Jim devoted over 25 years to his work at Ace Robbins where he built lasting relationships with his coworkers and customers. His commitment and kindness were always evident, making him a beloved figure in the workplace.

His humorous nature and witty sarcasm never failed to bring a smile to the faces of those around him, always ready to lighten the mood. His nickname, "fix it," captured his knack for problem-solving and his readiness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Day or night, if you called Jim for help, he would be there in minutes.

Jim found joy in the great outdoors through his love for hunting and fishing. Hunting season was his favorite, especially spending time with his buddies and sons, who he lovingly referred to as "my boys," on the mountain. Jim also enjoyed spending time fishing with close family and friends in one of his favorite places, the Thousand Islands.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Christopher Layaou and wife Laura, Nicholas Layaou and wife Tiffany; grandchildren, Annie, Patrick, Harper Layaou; sister, Mary Jane (Layaou) Arnold and husband Joe and countless other cherished family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend Jim's memorial service which will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73. W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Pastor Daniel Havrilla presiding. Interment will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Dallas immediately following.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
