Irene Kohnke Strickland of Nicholson formerly of Montrose and Las Cruces, New Mexico died on Wednesday in Hospice of the Scared Heart in Dunmore.
Irene was born in Binghamton on December 14, 1923 daughter of the late Bruce and Lena Kinney Squire. She was a graduate of Springville High School Class of 1940 and a graduate of Wyoming Seminary. Prior to her retirement she was employed at the Benninger Lumber Company in Dimmock and for over 30 years she worked in South Montrose at the Bendix Plant. She was a member of the Elk Lake Community Church.
Preceding her in death was her first husband Clyde E. Kohnke. Surviving is her husband Boyd Strickland, son and daughter-in-law William and Peg Kohnke and daughter Christine Karveller both of Montrose, 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and special friend Margaret Tico Barrett of Phoenix, Az.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 am from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock with the Rev. Charles Bishop, Pastor of the Elk Lake Community Church.
