Herbert Steele

Herbert DeWitt Steele, 94, of Tunkhannock passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leola Steele in 2021.

Born in Wyalusing on November 6, 1928. He was the son of the late Oscar and Naomi Abrams Steele.

He was a 1946 graduate of Wyalusing High School. He was part owner of Taurus Service Inc., Mehoopany. He was a chairman of the Wyoming County Fair Dairy Show and member of the Wyoming County Fair Board of Directors. Herbert was a member of the Springville Baptist Church.

He is survived by son, Randy Steele and wife Karen of New Canaan, CT; daughter, Sally Steele and husband Raymond Biglin of Tunkhannock; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Steele; sisters, Florence Taylor and Charlene Philips.

Family and friends are invited to attend Herbert's funeral services which will be held on Saturday March 18, 2023 at 12:00pm from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.

A viewing will be held from 10:00am until the time of service.

The family would like to thank Lisa Kmieciak and his caregiver, Leonice Phillips for their care and devotion to Herbert and his family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Herbert's name to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William St. Dunmore, PA 18510.
