Helen M. Talarico, 90, of Tunkhannock passed away July 12, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 71 years Anthony “Tony” Talarico.
Born in Sherburne, NY on August 1, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Domit and Rose Saber Merhib.
She and her husband managed a real estate company in Tunkhannock, built the Highfields Development, and helped many people have a home or a rental property. They also built the Mother of God Convent for the Capuchin Sisters and the S.A.F.E. Home (Saving Autistic Families Everywhere), and built several churches over the years.
Helen was a member of the church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Tunkhannock and worked as a Democratic Party poll watcher for Tunkhannock Borough, Ward 4 for many years. Helen was a proud member of the Democratic Party.
She enjoyed cooking and taught her children and grandchildren how to craft her perfect spaghetti sauce. She also cooked for many fundraisers in her church and the community.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Robert of Dillsburg and Anthony P. Jr. and wife Susan of Tunkhannock; daughters, Rosellen Stone of Kingston and Marie Talarico-Davis and husband Dr. Gary Davis of Shippensburg; grandchildren, Bradley, Anthony, and Cathy Jagger, Robert, Andrea, Khalil Talarico, Anita Riley, Dominic Talarico, Anthony Talarico III, Zachary and Elizabeth Davis, Rebecca Davis-Conner; and eight great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by brothers, Abraham, Khalil, and John Merhib; sister, Mary Merhib.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dennis Mattei and Traditional Home Health and Hospice for the care and compassion they extended to Helen and our family during this time.
Family and friends are invited to attend Helen’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on Friday July 16, 2021 at 9:00 AM from the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 99 E. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657. Interment will follow in Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Friends are asked to go directly to the church on Friday morning.
A viewing will be held on Thursday from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
