Helen C. Forte

Helen C. Forte of Tunkhannock died Sunday, October 16, 2011 at her home. She was born in Hazelton on December 1, 1917 daughter of the late Zigmont and Valeria Kubitsky Letowt. Helen was a graduate of Hazelton High School and the Hazelton General Hospital School of Nursing. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Clark Summit State hospital for 21 years. She was a member of the Church of the Nativity B.V.M. in Tunkhannock and a former member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Hazelton. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Pennsylvania State Police Ret. Capt. Mauro Forte, Sisters, Genevieve Yalch, Magdalene Yeagle, brothers Ben, Zigmont, Alvin, Frank and John Leo Letowt. Surviving is a daughter Carole Forte, sons Garry, James and wife Becky, Michael Forte all of Tunkhannock, Six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren several nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 11 am from the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery Tunkhannock. Family will receive friends at the Church from 10 am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Nativity BVM, 99 E.
