Gladys I. St. Clair, 93, of Tunkhannock passed away Monday, July 22, 2024 at home. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ronald St. Clair in 2002.
Born on October 5, 1930 in Tunkhannock, she is the daughter of the late James and Charolette (Cleveland) Ayre.
She was a 1947 graduate of Tunkhannock High School.
Gladys was a garment worker for many years. After retirement she worked at the Tunkhannock Middle School in the cafeteria.
Gladys found true joy in spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren. She was known for her love of sewing and bowling. She had a passion for baking cookies, particularly chocolate oatmeal cookies. She also enjoyed attending Nascar Daytona 500 races.
She was a member of the Mehoopany and Eaton Baptist Church choir and the St. Clair singers' group that traveled to various churches to share their talents.
She is survived by son, Terry St. Clair and wife Sandy; daughter-in-law, Anita St. Clair; son-in-law, Dale Jayne; grandchildren, Roy Dickson, Bobbi Jo, Anthony, Danny, Denise, Darren St. Clair, Victoria Phillips, Eric Jayne, Crystal Lacey, Olivia Emmi, David Owens; many greatgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by sons, Ricky and Roy St. Clair; daughter, Trudy Jayne; brothers, Donald, Kenneth, Robert, Glenn Ayre; sisters, Gertrude White, Beverly Faux, Dorothy Jacques.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caretaker, Montayna Edwards, Allied Services Hospice, and Cooney Medical for their care of Gladys.
Family and friends are invited to attend Gladys' memorial service which will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73. W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Rev. Nick Graves presiding. Interment will be held in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday.
