George A. Monninger

George Alvin Monninger died on August 25, 2010 in his home at Lake Winola, PA. He was the loving husband of 51 years to Lucy Hamilton Monninger, loving and proud parent of only son Robert Arthur Monninger, wife Sherrie and only grandchild George Daniel Monninger. His only brother, James Arthur and his family live in Maryland. George enjoyed many good times with his many nieces and nephews. Born in Baltimore, MD June 16, 1937, he and his brother lived with their parents, Dr. Arthur C. Monninger and Ruth Boyd Monninger (both deceased) through their school years. George attended Baltimore Polytechnic High School and graduated from University of Baltimore in 1962. George worked for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company until his retirement in 1992. He was an active member of the U.S. Navy from 1955-1957 and an inactive Reservist from 1957-1961. He retired to his home at Lake Winola, PA shortly after his retirement. He enjoyed a part-time position as driver for Tunkhannock District Schools. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Lake Winola United Methodist Church, Officiate - Pastor Joan Dodson. Friends may call to greet the family at the church at 11:00 AM. The private burial, immediately after the service, will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola.
