George Dougherty

George Neil Dougherty, 80, of Lake Winola passed away on March 17, 2023 at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Elinor Foley Dougherty.

Born in Scranton on February 14, 1943 he is the son of the late George and Catherine Roche Dougherty.

George was a 1960 graduate of West Side High School, Scranton, PA and served his country in the United States Air Force. Prior to his retirement he worked as an electrician at Procter and Gamble for 30 years. George was a member of Saint Mary's of the Lake Church and a life member of the Lake Winola Fire Company.

He enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing and working as the Overfield Township Zoning Officer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Gregory and wife Cheryl, Douglas, and George and wife Kim; daughter, Christina Reeves and husband Ronald; sister, Patricia Hudachek; grandchildren, Nathan and Raymond Reeves, Krista, Katie, John, Justin, and Matthew Dougherty; great grandchildren, Ella Kate, Adison, and Raelynn Dougherty.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Catherine Jaskulski and Julie Dougherty.

Family and friends are invited to attend George's Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on March 22, 2023 at 10:00 AM from Saint Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church, 1872 Dalton Rd. Lake Winola, PA 18625. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola.
