Floe Ellsworth

May 15, 1923 — July 19, 2024

Floe H. Ellsworth, 101, of Meshoppen passed away Friday, July 19, 2024 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Kenneth T. Ellsworth, who passed in 2000.

Born on May 15, 1923 in Springville, she is the daughter of the late Floyd and Myrtle (Bishop) Hibbard.

After graduating from Springville High School in 1941 as valedictorian of her class, she attended one year of Bible college at Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, NY. Then she embarked on a career that included working at Taylor's Store in Montrose and serving as a World War II plane spotter at a local lookout. After her marriage in 1948, she began her most rewarding roles which were homemaker, farm wife, mom, grandma and GG.

She adored her chickens and found happiness in greeting them each morning with a cheerful "good morning, ladies." In addition, she enjoyed spending time with her family, mowing the lawn, reading, doing word find puzzles, gardening, tending her roses, and listening to WPEL radio, especially "request time."

She was a faithful member of the Springville Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, and found enjoyment in singing hymns. She took pleasure in being an active member of the neighborhood farm society. Most importantly, she found joy in proclaiming Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

She is survived by daughters, Marie Golden and husband David, Beth Bartels and husband Charles; sister, Lois Williams; grandchildren, Kara Golden, Brian Bartels and wife Katie, Keith Bartels, Jan Prevost and husband Travis; great grandchildren, Jeverett Golden Brauer, Lincoln, Ruby and Benjamin 'Benji' Bartels, Charlotte and Evelyn Prevost; and many extended family members.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by twin daughters, Joan and Jill Ellsworth; brothers and sisters in law, Francis (EllenMarie) Hibbard, Carl (Shirley and Marie) Hibbard; sister, Beth Hibbard; brother-in-law, Donald Williams; and great grandson, Johnathan Prevost.
