Esther C. Twordusky, 101, of Tunkhannock, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Golden Living Center, Tunkhannock.
She was born June 23, 1914, in Scranton, a daughter of the late Floyd and Johanna Smith.
Esther worked in the Grove Silk Mill, Scranton, and Bocar Manufacturing, Tunkhannock, for many years. During World War II she worked in a factory making parachutes. She was an avid quilter, and made many beautiful quilts for family and friends.
Besides her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Twordusky; brother, Gerard; sisters, Katherine and Ruth Mary and her son-in-law, Robert Farrell.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Farrell, Montrose; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Linda Twordusky, Tunkhannock; grandchildren, Robert and Kim Farrell, Lee Center, NY; Suzanne and Joel Maxey, Montrose; Erin and Ken Blaisure, Montrose; Lori Twordusky, Tunkhannock; and Amy and Shane Helminiak, East Canaan, CT; great grandchildren, Robert, Heather and Shannon Farrell, Christopher and Chelsea Maxey, Peter Maxey, Megan Woronko and Wren Helminiak; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18 at 12:00 PM from Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock with the Rev. Kurt Bricker, Eaton Baptist Church, officiating.
