Ernest T. Race

Ernest T. (Ernie) Race of Monroe Twp, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday January 26, 2019 in the VA Hospital in Wilkes-Barre surrounded by his family. He was born in Wilkes-Barre on August 28, 1948, son of Ernest F. and Jean Thomas Race.

Prior to his retirement he was employed as a laborer for numerous local companies. A graduate of Tunkhannock High School class of 1966 and an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era.  Ernie was an active member of the Vernon Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon.

Ernie is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia Bartlett Race; son, Ernie (Rachael) Race; daughter, Vicki (Jeremy) Shiffer; sister, Ruth Claassen; 7 grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend Ernie’s celebration of life service which will be held on Wednesday January 30, 2019 at 11 a.m. from the Vernon Baptist Church, 1530 Demunds Rd, Dallas, PA 18612 with Pastor Glen Spencer presiding. A viewing for friends and family will be held on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock and at the church on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service. Interment will be held privately at Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas PA.
