Edward A. Zacharias
Edward A. Zacharias 82, of Tunkhannock died Friday December 6 at the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Ann Kukucka Zacharias.
He was born on September 22, 1931 in Scranton, Pa son of the late Julius and Theresa Zangardi Zacharias.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War, stationed in Germany where he patrolled the Russia border.
He was a self-employed truck driver for many years and later was employed by Coon's construction as a mechanic. He was a member of the Dennis Strong American Legion Post; He enjoyed working on trucks in his free time with his son and spent many Saturdays working on his brother-in-law's coal trucks. He loved Sunday afternoon rides with his wife and 2 sister-in-laws. He adored his granddaughter and touched the life's of all his nieces and nephews; He will be deeply missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his brother Matt Leggieri.
He is survived by his son Ed Jr. And daughter in law Robin, of Lemon, brother Tony Leggieri, of Highsville, MD, and sister Shirley Wikoski of Tunkhannock, granddaughter Taylor and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday 9:30 AM at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral, Inc. 73 West Tioga St. Tunkhannock with a mass of Christian Burial at the Church of Nativity B.V.M in Tunkhannock at 10:00 AM interment will be in Pieta Cemetery Tunkhannock. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart
