Edward Murach

Edward Murach, 76, of Tunkhannock died Tuesday, August 11th at Geisinger Community Medical Center hospice from complications of late-stage Parkinson’s disease. Born on May 1, 1939, he was raised by his grandparents, Anna and Ben Visneski, in Thurston Hollow where he resided his whole life. In 1962, Ed married his childhood sweetheart, Janice Rhines. Jan and Ed celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in May. Ed was a 1957 graduate of Tunkhannock High School where he was proudly a member of some of the most successful athletic teams in school history in football and volleyball. He coached many of his sons’ baseball teams and enjoyed remaining active by playing in and later umpiring for local softball leagues. He was a lifelong hunter and an excellent marksman, which led him to serve as a PA Game Commission Deputy for many years. Ed found joy in nature and was happiest when working on his farm, hunting in the woods, or fishing in a secluded pond. In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by his 3 sons: Ken & wife Susie, Ron & wife Judy, and Ed all of Tunkhannock, his grandson Sean Murach, sister-in-law Carol Rhines, and caregiver Charles Sheridan.
