Edgar F. Wilcox Jr., 77, of Tunkhannock was called to rest on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Wilke-Barre.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on September 24, 1946, he was the oldest son of the late Edgar Sr. and Florence Shook Wilcox.

Edgar left school to serve his country, spending six years in the army with deployments in Germany and in Vietnam. There he was a sergeant in the 1st Infantry, and the recipient of numerous awards.

Edgar returned home and married his sweetheart Linda Branning on June 22, 1970, spending over 54 loving years together. His family was his greatest pride and happiness in life, along with his beloved Aussie dogs. Edgar loved to support his daughters and granddaughters and could always be found cheering at games, shows, recitals, and ceremonies.

You could always find Edgar outdoors, in his vegetable garden, hunting, fishing, lawn mowing, and keeping a watchful eye on the hill where he and much of his family has always lived. He enjoyed listening to the oldies and going for drives around the lake with his wife.

Prior to retirement, Edgar spent most of his career at Chesapeake Corrugated Box Company, where he met some of his lifelong friends.

He is survived by his wife, his daughters and sons-in-law, Monika and John Grey, Tunkhannock, Michelle and Chris Ciuffreda, Milford; granddaughters, Brianna and Autumn Grey, Tunkhannock; brothers, Francis (Sue) Wilcox, Glendale (Gwen) Wilcox, sister-in-law Virginia Wilcox, all of Tunkhannock; uncle, Forrest (Arlene) Wilcox, Abington; aunt, Thelma Sturdevant, Tunkhannock; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, David Wilcox and niece, Jennifer Wilcox.

The family would like to send their appreciation and thanks to the employees at the VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre for the comfort and care they provided to Edgar throughout the years.

At Edgar's request, no funeral services will be held at this time.

Arrangements and care entrusted to Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
