Carol Schwartztrauber, 77, of Tunkhannock, passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Schwartztrauber, in 2003.
Born in Scranton on Jan. 9, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Magnotta Grant.
She graduated from Scranton Central High School and attended IBM Tech. Carol worked for Bell Telephone from 1962-1972 before becoming a full-time housewife.
Carol loved to shop, cook and travel, but more than anything, she loved to entertain and be surrounded by her family.
Carol is survived by sons, Christopher Schwartztrauber and wife, Stacey; and Justin Schwartztrauber and wife, Melissa; daughter, Adria Worthington and husband, George; grandchildren, Adonia Barziloski, Jordan Schwartztrauber, Courtney Schwartztrauber, Lindsay Schwartztrauber, Gavin Ruger and Thomas Schwartztrauber; and great-grandchild, Mia Barziloski.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael Grant and Augustine Grant; and sisters, Emiline Gvazdauskas, Angeline Gvazdauskas and Rosemarie Grant.
Family and friends are invited to attend Carol’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on Friday Feb. 5, 2021, at 10 a.m. from the Church of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 99 E. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657, to be celebrated by the Rev. Patrick Albert. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Friday. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, Feb. 4, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
