Betty Shiffer Fargo, 92, of Tunkhannock passed away quietly on Saturday January 8 after a brief illness.
She was married to Charles S. Fargo Jr. for 63 years before his death in January 2015.
Born in Shupp Hill-Tunkhannock she was the daughter of William and Virginia Cook Shiffer.
She spent most of her life in her home at the end of Putnam Street.
Betty enjoyed playing cards with her sisters and brother and their weekly Saturday morning breakfasts. She was a home maker most of her life making pies and cookies, jellies and her special pickles.
The highlight of her days was visits from her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty is survived by daughters, Melinda and husband Ralph Eggert and Beth Ann and husband Jack Smurkowsk; sister, Doris Solanick; brother, Glenn Shiffer and wife Flora; sister-in-law, Irene Shiffer; a dear niece, Kristina Repchick; a special friend, Susan Wood; grandchildren, Amy and husband Al Fariole, Alexander and wife Rebecca Eggert, Corey Smurkowski and partner Wendy Gattinalla, and Laura Fargo; great grandchildren, Natalia, Ella, Cameron and Jaxon Fariole, Charlie Eggert, Jakub and Henry Smurkowski.
She was preceded in death by her son, Charles S. Fargo III; brothers, James, William, and Edward; sisters, Lillian McKennas, Alice Vogrin, Jean Mislevy, and Jessie Barber; great grandson, Aidan Fariole.
Family and friends are invited to attend Betty’s funeral which will be held on Thursday January 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Pastor Dr. Cathy B. Wilcox of the East Lemon United Methodist Church presiding. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday.
