Benjamin L. Stelacone of Factoryville formerly of Colley and Jenningsville died Wednesday evening at the VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Luzerne on October 27, 1923 son of the late Anthony and Constance Karis Stelacone. He was an Army Veteran serving with the 16th Infantry Antitank Company of the 1st Division known as The Big Red One in Central Europe and Africa. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a carpenter and later was the owner of Stelacone’s Grocery Store in Jenningsville and Colley. Benjamin was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie M. Knappman Stelacone, brother Anthony Stelacone, sisters Nellie Skrosky, Jean Knorr, Lina Hardish, Laura Grey, Dellie Powers, Florene Mucha, Doris Verhanovitz. Surviving are daughters Margie Manchester, Cincinnati, Ohio, Constance Wiser and Terry Wertman both of Tunkhannock, sister Betty Knappman of Wilkes-Barre, grandchildren Benjamin and Chandler Manchester, Ashley and Joshua Wertman. Nieces Mary Malloy of Trucksville, Mary Ann Murphy of Tunkhannnock and nephew Frederick Knappman of Kingston all of whom he raised with his own family. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 am from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, Pa. with Pastor Lori Robinson of the Eatonville United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Hanover-Green Cemetery, Hanover. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4.
