Barbara Benson

Barbara L. Benson, 80, of Tunkhannock passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at Allied Services Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Scranton. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Roger Benson in 2016.

Born on September 10, 1944 in Johnson City, NY, she is the daughter of the late Thomas and Marion (Ace) Lazarus.

She was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School in 1962. Barbara pursued further education at Keystone College and later attended dental school at Temple University for one year. Her passion for dental care led her to work as a dental assistant at several dental offices.

She found joy in swimming at the family cabin in Forkston. She also had an adventurous spirit which extended to working on motorcycle engines, bowling, horseback riding, and riding her motorcycle.

Barbara was also a proud member of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Todd Benson; brother, Bill Lazarus; sisters-in-law, Pat Benson and Mary Wooten; nieces, Nici and Kim Benson; nephews, Matt Benson, John and D. Wooten; cousins, Betsy and Aaron Coolbaugh.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by son, Michael Benson.

Family and friends are invited to attend Barbara's celebration of life which will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 12:00 PM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73. W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Monday.
