Agnes H. Place, age 91 formerly of Franklin Ave. in Tunkhannock died Thursday September 30th in the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock after a lengthy illness. She was born in Moosic daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Sanderson Heckman.
In 1939 she married her late Husband Arthur âHapâ Place who died on May 22, 2004. After their marriage they lived in several towns including Meshoppen, Towanda, HugheTown and finally they moved to Tunkhannock in 1949. Agnes was known for her spaghetti dinners for the Little League team as well as serving as a den mother for the Cub Scouts. Later in life, Agnes became a well-known collector and seller of antiques. The furniture pieces she and Hap restored numbered in the hundreds.
Agnes was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters and a son James Place. Surviving is a son Ronald and his wife Helen of Jericho, Vermont, son Gary of Wilmington, Delaware, grand children Kimberly, Brian and Kevin Place of Jericho, Vermont, Michael, Patrick and Matthew Place of Wilmington, Delaware and a great grandson Thomas. Brother, Stuart and wife Lorraine Heckman of Wilmington, Delaware.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 am from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock with the Rev. Craig Gommer pastor of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Friends may call at the funeral home o Sunday from 4 to 6.
